Our Mission
To offer transformative care to stories of harm in order to experience freedom, healing, and restoration.
What is Narrative Care?
Narrative Focus Trauma Care engages origin stories of trauma and harm that have profoundly shaped our lives. Those stories, left unattended from care, bring disruption in your current life. Narrative Care aims to give care, kindness, attention, and truth to those stories so that healing and restoration can occur.
Who would benefit from Narrative Care?
My clients are struggling with trauma from their story that is impacting life in the present. This might include:
A traumatic incident from your past that has gone unexamined but continues to hold power.
A chronic emotional struggle of unknown origin such as anxiety or depression.
A recent trauma in the context of family, work, or church.
What can I expect during a session?
Bringing a written or typed origin story allows us to unpack the reality and effect of the harm endured. If you have difficulty writing or typing a story of harm, other avenues of expression are welcome (recording yourself telling a story, personal art that expresses the story, etc.). The beauty of Narrative Care is specific in nature. We will dive into the story that you bring at each session and go at a pace that is comfortable for you.
During our session, attention will be given to how the trauma has impacted your body’s physical response and health, and explore tools for healing. Lastly, if desired, we can examine how God is working amidst the trauma to redeem your story. Your story will be engaged using several modalities, including Trauma Focused Narrative Care, Allender Theory, Traumatic Attachment Theory, and embodied awareness.
Amanda has dedicated 13 years to supporting women in Christian ministry, with a focus on pastoral care and women's formation. For seven of those years, she served as the Director of Women's Formation, actively involved in providing care and guidance to women within the church community.
Her interest in story work emerged from her personal journey of seeking healing and her experiences in supporting women who were struggling spiritually and emotionally. She has a particular affinity for delving into the origin stories of trauma that continue to impact individuals' lives. She desires to explore and understand these stories in order to help others find healing.
To enhance her ability to provide effective care, Amanda pursued a two-year certificate in Trauma Focused Narrative Care at the Allender Center in Seattle, Washington. This specialized training equips her with skills and knowledge to address trauma within a narrative framework, allowing her to compassionately engage with individuals' stories of harm.
Amanda's approach is grounded in Biblical truth and grace. Her years of experience in Christian ministry, combined with her comfort in dealing with stories of harm, enable her to offer a warm and attuned approach to those seeking healing and restoration.
